Python PyCrypto: Generate RSA Keys Example.py
defgenerate_RSA(bits=2048):
''
Generate an RSA keypair with an exponent of 65537 in PEM format
param: bits The key length in bits
Return private key and public key
''
fromCrypto.PublicKeyimportRSA

public_key=new_key.publickey().exportKey('PEM')
private_key=new_key.exportKey('PEM')

Router(config)# crypto key generate rsa general-keys The name for the keys will be: myrouter.example.com Choose the size of the key modulus in the range of 360 to 2048 for your General Purpose Keys. Choosing a key modulus greater than 512 may take a few minutes.

Pycrypto is unmaintained and has known vulnerabilities. Use pycryptodome, it is a drop-in replacement.

@miigotu 'youthinks' wrong. e should be chosen so that e and λ(n) are coprime. It is not chosen at random, and since it is usually small for computation reasons, and included in the public key, it can always be known by an attacker anyway.

from Crypto.PublicKey import RSA
code = 'nooneknows'

key = RSA.generate(2048)
privatekey = key.exportKey(passphrase=code, pkcs=8)
publickey = key.publickey().exportKey()

Nice But How Can I Write The Private Key I Tried This:
f = open('PublicKey.pem','w')
f.write(publick_key)
f.close()

BUT IT DOESN'T WORK WITH THE PRIVATE KEY, JUST RETURNS 0B

The -t type option specifies the type of key to create. The possible values “rsa” or “dsa” for protocol version 2. The $HOME/.ssh stores the following two files:

  • $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa – Your private RSA key
  • $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pub – Your public RSA key

Please do not share keys file with anyone else. You can upload keys to remote server as follows:
ssh-copy-id userName@server2.nixcraft.net.in
Finally, you can login to remote server as follows:
ssh userName@server2.nixcraft.net.in
scp file.txt userName@server2.nixcraft.net.in:~/data2/
